State Minister for Animal Industry Bright Rwamirama Kanyontore has been declared unopposed in the race for the Isingiro North parliamentary seat.
Rwamirama’s unopposed victory follows the withdrawal of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) candidate Anthony Rutahwire from the contest under circumstances that remain unclear.
Previously, the Electoral Commission barred several aspirants, including Ankunda Best Arnold of the People’s Freedom Front (PFF) and Ntanda Sharif, over alleged forgery of seconder signatures.
Although the pair had earlier been cleared and nominated, the Commission later revoked their candidature after uncovering the irregularities.
With no remaining challengers, the Electoral Commission subsequently declared Rwamirama unopposed, securing his return to Parliament without a vote.
