Security agencies have thwarted an attempted robbery at a rented warehouse facility operated by the National Medical Stores (NMS) in Entebbe, following a joint operation involving NMS security personnel, the Special Forces Command (SFC), and the Uganda Police Force.

The incident happened on Saturday night and was detected in its early stages, prompting a swift security response that prevented the loss of any medical supplies.

Speaking on the matter, Sheilla Nduhukire, the Principal Public Relations Officer at NMS, confirmed that all items targeted by the suspects were recovered at the scene.

“Uganda National Medical Stores can confirm an attempted robbery at one of our rented warehouse facilities in Entebbe last night. Our security teams, working jointly with the Special Forces Command and the Uganda Police Force, swiftly detected and successfully foiled the attempt,” Nduhukire said.

She explained that security agencies immediately secured the facility to allow thorough investigations.

“The area was cordoned off as a precautionary measure to enable security agencies to carry out their investigations. There was no loss of medical supplies because the suspects were intercepted with the supplies still on site,” she added.

According to Nduhukire, two of the suspects sustained injuries during the operation and are currently receiving medical attention, while three others were arrested and remain in custody.

She reassured the public that the incident did not affect the operations of the medical supplies agency.

“Operations at NMS remain uninterrupted. We continue to work closely with the relevant authorities and remain committed to safeguarding our staff, assets, and the integrity of the national medicines supply chain,” Nduhukire said.

NMS also commended the Special Forces Command and the Uganda Police Force for their prompt intervention, noting that additional updates will be shared as investigations progress.
