The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled Wednesday, 4 February 2026, for voting in areas where Local Government Council elections were previously disrupted or could not be completed.
Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, EC Chairperson, stated, “We call on all voters, candidates, and political parties to take part in the upcoming elections peacefully and in full compliance with the law. This is an opportunity to ensure that every eligible voter’s voice is counted.”
The elections will cover key positions, including Chairpersons, directly elected councillors, women councillors, and representatives of special interest groups such as youths, older persons, workers, and persons with disabilities. Polling will take place at all affected stations and electoral college venues, running from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Counting of votes and the announcement of results will begin immediately after polling closes. Political parties and independent candidates are permitted to deploy a maximum of two polling agents per station.
Justice Byabakama emphasized that cooperation from all stakeholders is vital, saying, “We urge everyone involved to follow the electoral laws and guidelines to ensure a credible and peaceful process.”
