People living and working in Ntinda, Bukoto and Kyambogo will have no electricity today after UEDCL announced a planned power shutdown on the Ntinda Substation.

The power will be switched off from 8:00am to 5:00pm as engineers carry out planned work on the network.

UEDCL spokesperson Jonan Kiiza said the shutdown is necessary to improve service.

“UEDCL informs its esteemed customers served by the Ntinda Substation that there will be a planned power shutdown today from 8.00am to 5.00pm,” Kiiza said.

Several areas will be affected, including Ntinda, Bukoto, Kyambogo University, Kisaasi, Kulambiro, Kiwatule, Najjera, Kigowa and parts of Naguru and Komamboga, Kalinabari, Kisasi–Kyanja Road, Bukoto Trading Centre, Ntinda–Bukoto Road, and parts of Ntinda Industrial Area.

UEDCL has warned customers to protect their electrical equipment.

“All affected customers are advised to switch off their electrical appliances until power supply is fully restored,” Kiiza said.

He added that UEDCL regrets the disruption. “Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” he said.

Residents in the affected areas have been urged to plan their activities around the power interruption.
