The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has confirmed the recovery of 34 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) Integrated Science scripts that had gone missing from Bamure Primary School in Koboko District.
The scripts, which belong to candidates who sat their PLE at the school, were discovered during UNEB’s quality control checks ahead of the release of the 2025 PLE results.
According to UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the scripts were found sealed and intact in the head teacher’s office.
“As part of our quality control procedures before the release of results, we established that the scripts of 34 candidates of Bamure Primary School were missing. A thorough search was carried out at our marking centres and at the school, which led to the discovery of the sealed script envelope in the lockable box for UNEB materials in the office of the head teacher,” Kalule-Musamba said.
She explained that when the scripts were first found to be missing, the affected candidates were temporarily marked with an “X” as investigations continued.
“The learners were tentatively awarded an ‘X’ while the search for their scripts was ongoing. We are glad that the scripts have now been recovered,” she added.
Kalule-Musamba further noted that the envelope was handed over to Koboko Central Police Station, which verified that it had not been tampered with before it was returned to UNEB for marking.
“For avoidance of doubt, the scripts were collected by Koboko Central Police Station, which confirmed that the envelope was intact and had not been interfered with. The scripts have now been submitted to UNEB for marking,” she said.
UNEB has assured parents, candidates and school authorities that the scripts will be marked quickly so that the affected learners are not left out of the ongoing selection and placement process.
“We reassure the parents and candidates of Bamure Primary School that their scripts will be marked expeditiously and the candidates graded in time for selection and placement,” Kalule-Musamba said.
