Police in Lubowa have successfully recovered 30 stolen motor vehicle number plates during an intelligence-led operation in Seguku Zone 5, Wakiso District.
The operation was carried out on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m. after a tip-off from residents. Officers discovered the number plates concealed in a sweet potato garden inside a sack branded Kakira Sugar.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, confirmed the development, noting that statements have already been recorded from witnesses.
The recovered exhibits are currently kept at Mboa Police Station for safe custody.
“We recovered 30 number plates which had been stolen from various vehicles. They were found concealed in a sack within a sweet potato garden,” SSP Onyango confirmed. I call upon all those who had their number plates stolen to visit Lubowa Police Station for identification and reclaiming of their property,” Onyango added.
