Kajjansi Police Division has arrested two men in connection with a cattle theft case following an operation conducted on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The suspects have been identified as Kiberu Muzafaru, 25, a caretaker, and Katto Jimmy, 48, a resident of Kitende. Police recovered one black cow tied inside a gate in Canan Estate, Kitende B Cell, along with two blue tapelines stained with blood and cow dung.
Investigations also point to a third suspect, only identified as Peter, who is alleged to have been transporting stolen cattle from Masaka to Kajjansi. Efforts to have him apprehended are underway.
According to police, the arrests followed a tip-off that unknown men were ferrying cows in a blue Ipsum vehicle, whose number plate was concealed, into Canan Estate for slaughter and illegal distribution of meat using motorcycles.
The LC1 chairman of Kitende B worked alongside police to apprehend the suspects and document the scene.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, confirmed the arrests and commended the vigilance of the community.
“We have two suspects in custody after recovering a stolen cow in Kitende. Exhibits including tapelines stained with blood and cow dung were also recovered. Our teams are actively pursuing a third suspect identified as Peter, who is believed to be the one transporting cattle from Masaka,” Onyango said.
Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities to curb the increasing cases of cattle theft and illegal meat distribution.
