The Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested more than 100 suspects in a two-day operation targeting areas notorious for robbery, theft, and drug abuse.

Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luke Owoyesigyire, said the operations were carried out between October 28 and 29 in KMP South and KMP East, as part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities across the city.

“In Kampala Central Division, our teams rounded up 40 suspects from known black spots associated with theft of vehicle parts and other street crimes,” Owoyesigyire said.

He added that in Kira Municipality, areas including Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma, Kungu, Buwate, and Najjera were raided, leading to the arrest of seven suspects found with narcotic substances and a toy gun allegedly used in robberies.

In Kajjansi Division, police arrested 45 suspects from Ngobe, Sseguku, and Kajjansi for their suspected involvement in early-morning robberies.

Similarly, in Mukono, a joint operation conducted in Kyugu and Kisenyi–Degeya resulted in the arrest of nine suspects found with suspected narcotic substances.
