Police are investigating city socialite Bryan Kirumira, commonly known as Bryan White, following the death of his alleged girlfriend, Nalubwama Caroline, who reportedly sustained fatal burns in a fire at his residence in Kyamula, Makindye Division.
Police say the 25-year-old woman was rushed to Kiruddu Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead shortly after arrival.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed that detectives had commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Preliminary information indicates that the deceased was at the home of Mr. Bryan Kirumira, alias Bryan White, when the incident occurred. She was later rushed to Kiruddu Hospital where she was pronounced dead,” Owoyesigyire said.
He explained that a team of detectives visited the scene to gather evidence and document the events.
“The scene was examined and relevant exhibits were recovered. The body has been conveyed to the City Mortuary, Mulago, for post-mortem examination to establish the actual cause of death,” he added.
Police further revealed that Bryan White also sustained injuries during the incident and is currently receiving medical care.
“The suspect, who reportedly sustained injuries during the alleged incident, has recorded a statement to assist in the investigations,” Owoyesigyire stated.
He said investigators are retrieving CCTV footage and recording witness statements to establish what exactly transpired.
“Updates will be provided as soon as substantial progress is made,” Owoyesigyire said.
The case has drawn wide public interest due to Bryan White’s high profile as a philanthropist and socialite with a history of controversy.
